Create, change, or customize a view

Each Microsoft Outlook 2013 folder, such as Inbox and Calendar, displays its items in a layout called a view. Each folder has several predefined views that you can choose from, or you can create custom views.
You can create a view based on an existing view, or you can build a new one.

Build a new view

  1. Click View.
  2. In the Current View group, click Change View, and then click Manage Views.
  3. Click New.
  4. In the Name of new view box, type a name for the view.
  5. In the Type of view box, select a view type.
  6. To change where the view is available, select an option under Can be used on, and then click OK.
  7. In the Advanced View Settings: New View dialog box, select the options that you want to use.
  8. When you are finished selecting options, click OK.
  9. To use the view immediately, click Apply View.

Create a view based on a predefined view

  1. On the view on which you want to base your new view, click View. In the Current View group, click View Settings.
  2. For each type of change that you want to make, click a button, and then select the options that you want. When you are finished, click OK.
  3. Click View.
  4. In the Current View group, click Change View, and then click Manage Views.
  5. In the Views for folder folder name box, click Current view settings.
  6. Click Copy.
  7. In the Name of new view box, enter a name.
  8. To change where the new view is available, click an option under Can be used on.
If you want other selected folders to use the current view, click View. In the Current View group, click Change View, and then click Apply Current View to Other folder Folders. Select the check boxes of the folders to which you want to apply the view.

Delete a custom view

  1. Click View.
  2. In the Current View group, click Change View, and then click Manage Views.
